Maduro describes UK Premier as ‘crazed and devilish’
Earlier this week, Starmer unveiled his government’s Strategic Defense Review, outlining an aggressive expansion of the UK's military capabilities. The plan includes a substantial armaments program aligned with broader NATO initiatives, and Starmer claimed the changes would make the British armed forces “ten times more lethal” over the next decade.
Speaking on his television program Con Maduro + on Monday, the Venezuelan leader condemned what he described as Starmer's warmongering. He urged the British public to resist what he sees as a dangerous and reckless path toward increased militarization and global conflict.
“I call on the people of London, Liverpool, and all of Great Britain to reject the desperate and deranged calls of this war-hungry prime minister,” Maduro said. He questioned the moral integrity of Starmer’s stance and insisted that the world needs peace, not more conflict.
Maduro further argued that Starmer's rhetoric represents a “decadent and exhausted elite” that profits from the arms industry, rather than serving the interests of ordinary citizens.
Prior to Starmer’s comments, UK Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized that Britain is sending a strong message to Moscow by investing billions in new weapons production facilities and advanced missile systems.
In response, Maduro warned that those who remember the devastation of the First and Second World Wars are now witnessing talk of preparing for a new global conflict.
Russia has echoed similar concerns, accusing the West of using fear-based narratives to justify increased military spending. Moscow views the conflict in Ukraine as a Western-led proxy war and has repeatedly criticized the continued flow of weapons to Kiev, arguing that it only escalates violence and obstructs peace efforts.
